Fujiwara Teika is a Japanese poet and literary theorist during the early medieval period. Teika lived from 1162-1241. Teika was the son of a poet named Shunzei. Out of all the Japanese poets, Teika is one of the greatest. Teika had several backtracks occasioned because of the changing political issues of his partons, but Teika stayed strong, and continued to perfect his art, producing a lot of poetry, and a lot of poetic treatises.

Did I put my trust...

If my path
They ward, my Lord
They will protect, I’m sure;

My sleeves, on parting
Are splashed with dew,
Staining my breast, this hue
Is carried on the gusting autumn wind.
