William Yeats was born on June 13, 1865 in Sandymount, Country Dublin, Ireland. He died January 28, 1939. William wrote both poems and plays. Yeats is generally considered one of the twentieth century's key English language poets. Most modern poets experimented with free verse, William Yeats was a master of traditional form. He had a life long interest in mysticism magic and the occult. He did a lot of research on those subjects and they influenced a lot of his poetry. He also won the Nobel prize for literature in December 1923. One of his most famous poems is called "The Second Coming."
